Commitment

My approach to accessibility

I am committed to making mycordt.com as accessible as possible. As an IAAP CPACC certified designer with 30+ years of experience in inclusive design, I hold this site to the same standards I advocate for in my professional work. Accessibility is not an afterthought — it is how I build from the start.

This site aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. I review and improve accessibility on an ongoing basis.

Features

What this site does

  • Keyboard accessible

Every element is reachable and operable by keyboard. A skip link bypasses the navigation to take you directly to content.

  • Sufficient colour contrast

All text meets or exceeds WCAG AA contrast ratios. Primary blue (#0047CC) achieves 5.2:1 on white; body text achieves 8.4:1.

  • Descriptive alt text

Meaningful images carry descriptive alt text. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology with alt="" and aria-hidden="true".

  • Semantic structure

Clear heading hierarchy, semantic HTML landmarks, and ARIA labels allow screen readers to convey accurate page structure.

  • Visible focus indicators

All interactive elements show a clear focus ring for keyboard users, using :focus-visible so it only appears when needed.

  • Responsive & resizable

The layout adapts to any screen size. Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

Limitations

Known limitations

I view accessibility as an ongoing commitment, not a completed task. There are areas I am still working to improve:

AI-generated images: Section images are AI-generated. Alt text is manually written and I continue to refine these descriptions.

Third-party content: Embedded or linked third-party services are outside my direct control and may not meet the same standards.

If you encounter a barrier I haven't listed here, please let me know — I take every report seriously.
